Chiropractic leads the way in an approach to healthcare that focuses on assisting each individual to express their optimal well being through a hands on, non-invasive and drug free approach. Fundamental to the Chiropractic approach is the belief that good health depends upon having your spine and nervous system functioning at their best.

We have a unique approach to chiropractic and offer you holistic health care which integrates other modalities to assist in optimum health being regained and maintained now and in the future.

    Sports & Remedial Massage

Whether you are resisting the stresses and strains of work or recovering from a sporting event or training session a sports massage could be just what you need.

Repetitive incorrect movement, poor posture or just your normal exercise routine can make you vulnerable to muscle damage and injury. Sports massage will help relieve the symptoms and promote healing and recovery. So as you can see, Sports massage is far more than just for relaxation.

Remedial massage is an effective way to target specific pain. Our highly experienced massage practitioners use various techniques to break down bound muscle fibres that can cause aches and soreness. Remedial massage plays an important part in the treatment and ongoing management of soft tissue injury. In conjunction with your personal exercise program you will find that joints become free and muscles become smooth and supple. This makes you efficient, improves performance and lifestyle and makes you far less prone to injury.

Sports Massage? Just what your body needs!

    Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a time of great joy and also a time of physiological, psychological, structural and spiritual change and for many women pregnancy can be a difficult and emotional journey.

Your pregnant body will undergo hormonal changes which can cause mood swings and emotional upheaval. Hormones also soften joint-supporting tissues (in preparation for delivery) and muscles can become strained under the increasing weight of your body. Low back and pelvic discomfort is very common as your body prepares for the birth of your baby. An increase in your blood volume can cause breathlessness and feelings of fatigue leaving you feeling drained physically and emotionally.

MASSAGE THERAPY DURING YOUR PREGNANCY CAN HELP TO:

  • Ease muscle and joint strain
  • Reduce stress hormones and anxiety
  • Promote relaxation and sleep
  • Reduce oedema and blood pressure
  • Improve flexibility and energy levels
  • Promote awareness of and connection to your baby
  • Support your physiological and emotional needs

POST NATAL MASSAGE THERAPY CAN HELP TO:

  • Rebalance pelvic and spinal structures to regain postural alignment
  • Alleviate muscle strain
  • Reduce/ prevent back and neck pain caused by caring for your new baby
  • Promote pelvic floor recovery
  • Promote healing after Caesarean delivery
  • Regain abdominal strength and tone

Massage therapy during pregnancy and the post partum period is designed to complement the clinical ante-natal and post-natal care provided by your GP/Obstetrician and Midwife. Your comfort during a massage session is paramount. I use pillows, cushions and bolsters to support the abdomen and breasts while you are in a side lying position. Your body will be covered with a sheet... I will only expose the area being worked on. If you have any questions please feel free to call me on either of the numbers below, or you can email me.

I am fully qualified in Massage (ITEC dip), Sports Massage (ITEC dip), Massage for Pregnancy and Labour (Wellmother APNT dip) and I am fully insured for Public Liability and Products Liability. I work within the Code of Ethics laid down by Association of Physical and Natural Therapists, and the Complementary Therapists Association. Your privacy and confidentiality is guaranteed.

  • Physiotherapy

Conditions that can be treated are all types of musculoskeletal injuries such as muscle and ligament strains and sprains, tendinopathies, tennis and golfers elbow, shin splints, bursitis, shoulder impingement and rotator cuff injuries, post-operative rehabilitation for sporting and occupational injuries, back pain and sciatica.

Treatment methods used are electrotherapy (ultrasound), soft tissue mobilisation, manual therapies including massage, exercise therapy rehabilitation (with personal rehab programmes), core stability and provide advice on injury prevention.

    Acupuncture

Acupuncture and Tui Na have their roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine which is a medical practice that has been developed over thousands of years. While many people are familiar with acupuncture and understand that thin, sterile, disposable needles are used to tap into the 14 known energy meridians of the body, little is known of Tui Na here in the UK.

Tui Na is a form of medical massage that focuses on the site of injury and is grimarily used for musculo-skeletal pain due to injury. The practitioner uses techniques like grasping, kneading, rolling, and chopping on the muscles around the site of injury to encourage the body’s natural healing process. Acupressure is often used to promote the movement of Qi and Blood in the energy channels.

Moxibustion is often used in breech presentation and is proven effective at turning a baby in preparation for birth.

Cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation is also available. Cosmetic acupuncture is a non surgical approach to decreasing fine lines and wrinkles and lifting the skin on the face for a softer and more beautiful look. Chinese medicine is a holistic approach to promoting health so the organ systems involved with keeping skin young are also balanced for long lasting results. Not only will you look amazing, you will feel much better too as the body becomes more balanced and energized.

    Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which is based on treating the individual with highly diluted substances given in mainly tablet form, which triggers the body’s natural system of healing. Based on their experience of their symptoms, a homeopath will match the most appropriate medicine to the patient.

It works on the principle of “like treats like” - that is, a substance that would cause symptoms in a healthy person is used to treat those same symptoms in illness.

For example, one remedy which might be used in a person suffering from insomnia is coffea, a remedy made from coffee.

Scientifically it cannot yet be explained precisely how it works, but new research in biochemistry and quantum physics is going some way towards shedding light on the process. What we do know is that a carefully selected homeopathic remedy appears to acts as a trigger to the body’s healing processes.

Homeopathy has been widely used throughout the world for more than 200 years. In 2000, the House of Lords’ Select Committee on Science & Technology cited homeopathy as one of the five Group One therapies, having “an individual diagnostic approach” along with osteopathy, chiropractic, herbal medicine and acupuncture.

Homeopathy can be safely used alongside most conventional medicines.

    Reflexology

Reflexology is a safe, natural and drug free therapy that helps to balance the mind and body by massaging ‘reflex’ points on the feet or hands. The reflex points correspond to organs and structures of the body, which allow the therapist to treat the whole body as well as identifying and targeting certain areas.

Reflexology has shown to be effective for: Stress, Headaches, Muscular Pain, Fertility, Neck/Back Problems, PMT, Fatigue, Skin and Sleep Disorders, IBS, Arthritis plus many other conditions.

In this hectic world we live in reflexology can also simply provide some precious time-out to kick back and relax. It is a blissful experience that can be used regularly to maintain a healthy state of inner peace and equilibrium.

    Maternity Reflexology

Our reflexologist, Tricia, has specialist training in maternity reflexology, which can help to balance and support the physiological, emotional and hormonal changes your body will experience during pregnancy and the post natal period. Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy may actually shorten labour time and the amount of pain relief required.

    Podiatry

Podiatry (Chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and other disorders of the feet.
